How To Play Tribe: Rules Summary
Setup
-
First, gather your friends around a table. Ensure there’s enough room for everyone, unlike that time we tried playing on Tom’s coffee table!
-
Each player receives five resources: wood, stone, food, water, and the mystery resource we always forget the name of.
-
Next, place the board in the center, with the jungle side up. Last time, we accidentally used the underside and ended up with a tablecloth war.
-
Shuffle and deal two territory cards to each player. Don’t peek at your neighbor’s cards, even if they’re your brother-in-law.
Gameplay
-
Start with the youngest player. They always get to go first. Hope it’s not four-year-old Tommy; he demands snacks after every turn.
-
During a turn, players use resources to expand territories, trade, or negotiate. Remember, bribery with candy is not allowed, despite past attempts.
-
Players take turns clockwise, so keep an eye on who just went. You don’t want to pull a ‘Fred’ and skip your own turn.
Winning
-
The first player to acquire ten territories wins the game. At least you’ll avoid that post-game debate about what actually counts as winning.
-
If a tie occurs, arm wrestle to determine the winner. No, not really. Just tally your resources; the one with the most resources wins.
Special Rules & Conditions
-
Beware of the ‘storm’ card; it’ll send you back two spaces. You can imagine how dramatic this gets with my friends.
-
Trade boxes on the board indicate safe zones. Use them wisely to avoid Tom’s power moves.
-
If any resource pile runs out, all players must collectively sing a victory song for the player with the most resources. I suggest ‘We Are the Champions.’ What can I say? I love Queen.

## Triumphing the Tribe: Your Path to Victory
Well, folks, you’ve made it to the end of the Tribe strategy guide! Give yourselves a pat on the back; it’s a brave new world out there in the land of tribes. Remember, the key to winning Tribe is balancing resource management and territory expansion while keeping an eye on those sneaky friends who claim they’re not strategizing against you.
In our last game, I nearly lost my best friend over a disputed berry bush. Turns out, communication and player interaction are crucial to keeping the peace…and your friends! Use these strategies wisely, and may your tribe always find victory (and the occasional generous trade of sheep or two). Happy gaming!
