How To Play Terminator Salvation: Rules Summary
Setup
- Place the board in the center of the table. Make sure it’s not upside-down, unless you want a real challenge.
- Hand out character tokens and matching character sheets to each player. Pick your favorite, or fight about it like we did.
- Shuffle the mission, item, and event cards separately. Place them in their spots on the board.
- Place resource cubes, enemy figures, and dice nearby. These will end up everywhere anyway, so just start organized.
- Deal starting resources and items as outlined in the rulebook. Try not to shortchange your friends, even if they deserve it.
Gameplay
- Players take turns in clockwise order. If anyone forgets, remind them in your best Arnold voice.
- On your turn, draw an event card and follow its instructions. These are rarely friendly.
- Take two actions: move, scavenge, attack, or interact with objectives. You can repeat actions, unless otherwise stated.
- After all players act, enemies move and attack. Sometimes it feels personal.
- Advance the mission tracker each round. Hope you don’t run out of time like we always do.
Winning
- Complete all mission objectives before the tracker runs out or your team is wiped out.
- If you succeed, celebrate. If not, start blaming each other or Skynet. That’s what we do.
- Check the rulebook for alternate win conditions if you want to mix things up.
Special Rules & Conditions
- Some events trigger special effects—read these out loud for dramatic flair.
- Boss enemies have unique abilities. Study them, or at least pretend you did.
- You can trade items with teammates if you are on the same space. Or just argue about it for half the night.
- Don’t forget: injuries limit your actions, so avoid getting shot. Trust me.
Follow these rules and soon enough, you’ll be teaching everyone else How To Play Terminator Salvation. Or at least, you’ll be quoting Terminator nonstop like my group did for a week.
Best Terminator Salvation Strategies
Resource Management: The Secret Sauce to Victory
Know Your Supplies
First, keep an eye on your ammo, medkits, and gear. Nothing’s worse than running out mid-battle! Always count your loot after each round.
- Count resources every turn
- Share with teammates if needed
- Never hoard just for yourself
Trade Smartly
Secondly, use trading to your advantage. Trading can patch up a weak squad fast. Don’t be shy—ask for swaps.
- Offer what others need
- Negotiate without being greedy
- Watch out for unfair deals
Plan for Emergencies
Finally, always stash something for rainy days. A surprise T-800 attack can spoil your party fast! Stash goodies just in case.
- Keep backup resources hidden
- Alert your team about extra supplies
Smash Those Mission Objectives Like the T-800!
Know Your Goal
First, read the mission card. You must know what you’re trying to do. If you miss this step, you’ll stumble around worse than Kyle Reese at a tech convention.
- Check mission win conditions every turn.
- Share info with your teammates.
Prioritize Your Tasks
After that, pick what’s most urgent. Sometimes, my friends and I chase side objectives, but then the main goal laughs at us from across the table.
- Tackle mandatory objectives first.
- Use bonus actions only if you have spare time.
Keep Moving Forward
Finally, avoid getting stuck. If you all loiter, Skynet will win by default. Keep your eyes on the goal and move fast!
- Plan as a group, then act quickly.
- Never let enemies distract you from the main mission.
These tips helped me and my crew finish missions before the machines could even boot up. Remember, always focus on “How To Play terminator salvation” for best results.
The Secret Sauce: Exploiting Enemy Weaknesses in Terminator Salvation
Spot the Tin Can Gaps
Don’t just blast away! Watch their movement. Many enemies pause before attacking, showing a weak spot. Use this to your advantage.
- Wait for them to expose a joint or panel.
- Strike fast with focused fire.
Distract and Conquer
Some bots love shiny things, like decoys. Use distractions to pull them away from cover.
- Throw noise makers before engaging.
- Flank them while they’re distracted.
Know Your Skynet Foes
Each enemy in Terminator Salvation acts a little different. Learn their quirks after a few rounds. Soon, you’ll spot easy win patterns.
- Memorize which bots are slow vs. quick.
- Prepare special action cards for each type.
That’s how my hungry-for-victory squad, plus my cat Fred, finally won on Hard Mode. Now you can too!
Game Over… or Is It?
Look, if you’re still struggling with Terminator Salvation after all these tips, just blame your friends for being Skynet in disguise. But seriously, nail your resource moves, focus on the mission, and poke enemy weak spots like they’re balloons at a birthday party. Now go show those machines who’s boss! And if someone asks how to play Terminator Salvation, just point them here—unless you want to keep all these sweet strategies to yourself. Good luck—and don’t trust anyone named Arnold at the table.
