How To Play Evolution: Rules Summary

Setup

  1. First, hand each player a trait deck and a player board.

  2. Next, place the food tokens in the middle as the watering hole.

  3. Each player gets 1 Species board to start with, placing it in front of them.

  4. Finally, deal 3 Trait cards to each player. You are now ready to start!

Gameplay

  1. Begin by choosing a card from your hand to place face down in the watering hole.

  2. Next, play as many trait cards from your hand to your species, or discard to increase population or body size.

  3. Then, reveal the food cards in the watering hole and add food tokens accordingly.

  4. Eat! Feed your species by taking food tokens from the watering hole.

  5. After eating, discard down to 3 trait cards and draw back up to 4.

Winning

  1. Play continues until the trait deck runs out.

  2. Count your points. Points come from food eaten, population left, and traits.

  3. The player with the most points wins!

Special Rules & Conditions

  1. If a species can’t find food, it loses population and might go extinct.

  2. Carnivores must attack other species to eat. Watch out!

  3. Traits can combine for fun and mayhem. Experiment for best results!
