How To Play Evo: Rules Summary

Setup
  1. Give each player a dinosaur board, tail marker, and mutation cards in their color. No, you do not get a real dinosaur. Yes, I checked.
  2. Put the main board in the center. Place climate token on the mild space. Get those climate moods swinging!
  3. Shuffle the event cards. Place them in a deck. Prepare for chaos.
  4. Stack the mutation tiles. Put them near the board. Don’t eat them. They are not real food.
  5. Everyone puts their dinosaurs on starting spaces. Put tail markers at the start of the evolution track.
Gameplay
  1. First, flip an event card and change the climate. Dinos can’t pack an umbrella, so brace yourselves.
  2. Auction for mutation tiles. Bid with your precious points. Regret nothing (until you do).
  3. Attach winning mutations to your dinos. Now your dino might have two heads. That’s twice the sense of regret.
  4. Move your dinos. Each dino gets a step. Try not to wander off into the volcano. Trust me, it never works out.
  5. Climate check! Remove any dino that can’t handle the weather. Only the toughest, or luckiest, survive.
  6. Lay eggs to replace lost dinos if you have the right mutation. Celebrate small victories.
  7. Move up the evolution track for every surviving dino. Points, sweet points.
Winning
  1. After the final round, count evolution points. The player with the most wins. Extra bragging rights go to the person who does the best dino impression.
Special Rules & Conditions
  1. If you tie in an auction, everyone loses the points they bid. It’s called evolution, not fairness.
  2. When all mutation tiles are gone, reshuffle discarded ones. Science never rests, and neither do you.
  3. If meteor event appears, brace yourself: things are about to get spicy. Follow the event card rules exactly, even if they seem bonkers.

Now you know the basics of How To Play Evo. Start mutating, watch the weather, and try to not go extinct. Good luck, future lizard overlords!

Best Evo Strategies

Mutations and Adaptations: Out-Evolve Your Friends!

Mutations and adaptations are your dino’s secret weapons. Every game night, my enthusiastic friends try to outdo each other’s horns, fur, and tails. You must adapt or become a pile of fossils. Here’s how to master mutations:

Pick the Right Mutation at the Right Time

  1. Grab mutations that protect against changing weather first.
  2. Choose movement upgrades when your dino feels stuck.
  3. Stack survival traits, like extra eggs, to outlast rivals.

Mix and Match for Maximum Effect

  1. Combine fur and swimming to reach every juicy food spot.
  2. Balance offensive and defensive traits, so you don’t look like a porcupine with anxiety.

React to Your Friends’ Choices

  1. If they grab migration, counter with cold resistance or extra legs.
  2. Adapt quickly. Waiting means extinction!

How To Play evo is simple, but using mutations to mess with your friends? That’s the real fun.

Mastering the Weather: Your Ticket to Dino Glory

The Forecast is Everything

First of all, you should always watch those weather cards like a hungry raptor. Spot patterns early and plan your dino moves to avoid deadly heat or cold!

React Fast to Shifts

  1. Switch your dino placement when the forecast changes.
  2. Move towards safer zones before your friends even notice.
  3. Adapt your strategy every round—never trust the weather to stay nice!

Predict Opponents’ Moves

My buddy Dave always runs for snow before the sun melts his plans. If you can guess where others are heading, you can block them or grab the best spots first.

Never Get Comfortable

  1. Keep a backup plan for freaky weather turns.
  2. Don’t get too attached to one region—even if it’s cozy.

Keep Your Dino’s Feet on the Ground: Board Control in Evo

Grab the Best Real Estate First
  1. Snag regions with the most food early. Hungry dinos can’t win races or friends!
  2. Block rivals from expanding by plopping your dinos right in their path.
Spread Out but Not Too Thin
  1. Cluster dino families for safety, but keep options open to flee nasty weather. You never know when things will go sideways.
Use Migration Wisely
  1. Move dinos to safer or richer zones, but watch rivals who try to muscle in. Outmaneuver them with smart timing.

How To Play evo well? Keep your feet on the best land—and step on some tails if you must!

Become the Dino King, or at Least Don’t Go Extinct

Alright, fellow lizard tamers, you now have the tools to rule the prehistoric world of Evo! If you’re lucky, and your dice don’t betray you (which they will, trust me), you’ll use smart mutations, master weather prediction, and stomp around with solid board control. My buddy Pete still grumbles about the time I outmaneuvered him with a well-timed tail mutation. Sorry, Pete! Remember, even if you’re evolving with the grace of a dropped egg, have fun—that’s the real goal. Now go clamber to your dino throne and show your friends How To Play evo like a true survivor!
