Overview

How To Play Entrapment: Rules Summary

Setup

1. Place the board on a flat table. If your table isn’t flat, you risk pawns rolling away and blaming the cat!
2. Each player picks a pawn color. No fighting over the blue one this time.
3. Shuffle the trap tokens. Then, deal them face-down to each player. Don’t peek—this isn’t poker.
4. Everyone grabs their action cards and keeps them secret, unless you want to lose—fast.
5. Choose someone to start. We usually pick whoever lost last time, because revenge tastes sweet.

Gameplay

1. On your turn, move your pawn to a new space. You can’t move through walls or other pawns, unless you’ve unlocked ninja powers (see Special Rules & Conditions).
2. After moving, you can place a trap token on any empty square. Traps can’t stack. This isn’t a pancake breakfast.
3. Play one action card if you choose. These cards shake things up, like swapping traps or moving someone else’s pawn. I once sent Bob straight into his own sneaky pit trap. Beautiful.
4. End your turn, and hand play over to the next person. Try not to look too smug.

Winning

1. You win if you trap all other pawns or are the last player left on the board.
2. Sometimes, two people fall into traps on the same turn. They both lose. I call that poetic justice.
3. If all pawns get trapped at once, nobody wins, but everyone gets to complain equally.

Special Rules & Conditions

1. If a pawn lands on a trap, it’s out of the game. The player has to narrate their dramatic fall—accents encouraged.
2. Some action cards let you jump over traps. Use them wisely; I wasted mine taunting my friend and walked right into a pit.
3. No stacking of traps. It’s tempting, but the designers said no. I checked.
4. If all action cards are used, reshuffle the pile and keep going until someone wins or the snacks run out.
