Bellfaire is like a birthday party for Everdell fans. It adds more player boards, special event cards, and a whole market for resources. This expansion is great for a group who wants a bit more variety but doesn’t want to learn a ton of new rules. When we played, our table looked like a woodland bazaar. No one flipped the game in rage, and that’s high praise. This is a good pick if you’re looking to spice up your original Everdell without making things too wild.

7 Everdell: Spirecrest

If you like a bit of adventure, Spirecrest is your jam. It throws in a mountain board, weather cards, and huge critters. Seriously, we had a frog riding a moose at one point and it was glorious. Spirecrest turns your woodland empire into an epic journey, making each game feel fresh. Just be ready—some of the new challenges are tricky! We love it when we want to shake up our usual Everdell evenings.

6 Everdell: Pearlbrook

Pearlbrook adds an underwater twist, and brings new frog ambassadors and pearl resources. It was a hit at our table, even though one friend couldn’t stop making gurgling noises every turn. You’ll dive (not literally, please) to the river for new locations and wonders. The mechanics are easy to pick up and make your city feel even fancier. Plus, the pearls look super shiny in the light!

5 Everdell: Mistwood

Mistwood invited spiders to the party, and somehow made it fun. It adds a solo or two-player mode against the sneaky spider, Nightweave. We tried to outwit her and, spoiler, she spun us around. The mechanics here are a bit more tactical, and perfect if your usual group is small or someone bails last minute. Mistwood keeps Everdell fresh even when the human crowd is thin.

4 Everdell: Newleaf

Newleaf is where the woodland train comes to town—literally. We had a blast with the new station board and critter visitors. This expansion opens up a bunch of new combos and city-building tricks. Our table got rowdy trading in passengers for points. If your group loves variety, this might be your favorite—just don’t let anyone hog all the tickets.

3 Root: The Riverfolk Expansion

Root isn’t Everdell, but if you love forest critters and quirky expansions, it’s a must. The Riverfolk Expansion adds otters and lizards with wild new strategies. We laughed as otters set up shops everywhere and lizards did spooky things. If you like Everdell’s woodland world but want more player conflict, give this a go. Just be ready for some yelling across the table.

2 Wingspan: European Expansion

Wingspan isn’t Everdell, but think of it as cousin to woodland vibes. The European Expansion adds new bird cards, bonus powers, and pretty eggs. We played while pretending to be pro birdwatchers, and even our grumpiest friend smiled. If you like Everdell’s relaxing nature theme but want something less competitive, Wingspan’s expansions are worth a try.

1 Dale of Merchants Collection

We picked this one because it brings together cute critters, deck-building, and clever play, kinda like Everdell, but with more focus on hand management and direct player interaction. We laughed a lot and had that ‘just one more game’ vibe. Plus, the little animal cards are just as adorable.
